Pet Product Review - Chuckit Kick Fetch

Berkley loves to destroy balls. Tennis balls, basketballs, footballs, volleyballs, you name it – he’s destroyed it. My backyard is a graveyard for once shiny balls that are now dirty, deflated shards. I was anxious to find a ball that could stand up to the torture my dog puts balls through.

When I saw this soccer-sized ball from Chuckit, I was super excited. I already love Chuckit products. Their ball launcher has given people like me who stand powerless in the face of a tennis ball, the ability to launch a ball as far as it can go. Their line of different balls for the launcher is diverse, and makes fetch extra fun. Naturally, I had high hopes for their kick fetch ball. Here’s how it delivered….

The Kick Fetch ball by Chuckit is made of rubber and durable fabric, and features large grooves for easy mouthing and carrying. It’s a good weight, easy to kick, and not too heavy.

The Good
While I can’t see this product being too usable for small dogs, it’s great for larger dogs that like to pick up balls, push them around, toss them, or play a game of keep-away. A lot of companies have brought large balls to the market, but few have keyed in on adding the much appreciated grooves for easy carrying via dog mouth.

What I like about this product is that it was very easy for my dog to hold in his mouth, even while romping around. We were both able to play together with the ball, kicking, throwing, and having fun.

The Bad
What I didn’t like about this product, is that I expected it to be pretty durable. While the company claims that the material is “puncture resistant,” it didn’t last an hour with my dog. He quickly sunk his teeth through the fabric, and shortly thereafter, opened a seem, exposing the interior, which he decided, was great fun to destroy. I will admit that Berkley is probably a little tougher on toys than most dogs, but I still expected this to last a little longer, though it definitely fared better than its soccer and volleyball counterparts.

Final Review
I paid 19.99 for this ball, and was disappointed when it didn’t stand up to the value I expected for the price. I don’t mind dropping some money on a toy, but when I do, I expect it to last more than a few rough & tumble play sessions. I think this ball would be a much better buy if the it were made of a more durable material. Overall, I would give this product a 4 out of 5.
